STEVE WARD

Last night I had the opportuntiy to attend Steve Ward lecture on love and relationships. This lecture was put on by the Slippery Rock University Program Board. Steve Ward was a great public speaker and had a meaningful message. It was interesting when Steve showed me how private you can make your facebook. I also was amazed by how many college students are in an abusive relationships. I was completely unaware that 25% of college relationships are abusive

Alumni Banquet

This past Saturday I had the honor of attending the Slippery Rock University alumni awards banquet. At this banquet I was honors with a sophomore scholarship. This particular scholarship was for education majors with high academic and campus involvement. My parents from New York were able to even come down! At this banquet I sat with a past president of the alumni association, a currently board member, and a graduate who used to live in my room in north hall. It was really interesting to experience how this function worked. In attendance was also the Watson family, all of the currently deans, many vice-presidents of the university and President Smith. The longest aspect of this event was the young alumni award. It was interesting to see what these amazing graduates that accomplished in such a short amount of time and how high they viewed there SRU education. In all this was a positive experience that I am proud to say I had attended.

Anatomy Test

On Wednesday April 14th I have another A&P test which I have been studying for all day. I enjoy learning about any science and how the body works but sometimes I wonder how this information is directly helping me be a better teacher. Sure any additional knowledge will be an asset to my ability as a teacher. Today for the first time I felt the information I was learning was directly bettering my teaching ability as a physical educator. I now know why children sweat less than adults. Children sweat less than adults because their sweat glands activate at a higher temperature. Children consequently loss their heat in another why, children have a great surface area per body weight which enables them to loss heat endothermic from their skin.
